Considerably more paperwork

Dispatches From Bad Little Falls is out.

It's eleven short pieces from the town. Six are stories and five are documents, and by documents I mean a sign-up sheet, a substitute teacher's notes, a third-grader's notebook, the wall behind the register at the diner, and a formal complaint about a yacht, filed by the harbormaster, at length, from a piling. Over 32,000 words. None of it has been anywhere else and none of it ever will be.

No romance in this one. Nobody's falling in love, nothing's explicit, and nothing hurts. The bonds in this book are the other kind: neighbors, in-laws, and the people who cover your shift. Ten books of two men finding each other in a small town in Maine, and this is the small town on an ordinary week, doing what it does while nobody is finding anybody. It turns out that is mostly paperwork. The deputy calls in sick with a flu honey badgers do not get. The groundhog calls spring with her face in the dirt. A hammerhead puts a towel under every door in the house. The mayor runs a baby pool on the chalkboard where the soup used to be.

If you've read the books you'll know everybody in it. If you haven't, nothing in it needs the books first, and Different Genus is the front door.

Where to get it: free when you join the newsletter, which is where the list got it first, or $2.99 on Amazon. It is not in Kindle Unlimited and it never will be. That is not a complaint about Kindle Unlimited; it is the only way I'm allowed to hand a book to my own readers for nothing, and I'd like to keep doing that.

Two other things, while I'm here

Slack Tide is in Fall Hard this month, a hundred-plus M/M romance and erotica titles on sale in one place. And Hot Reads, Cool Nights is a free-book giveaway from thirty-odd M/M authors, with True North as mine.

This is the second post in a week. The header up there still says "Occasional. Not a schedule." I am aware. The harbormaster would like it noted that he has not filed about it, and that this is the second time.
