Maybe I should post more often
Latent Heat is out.
That's the announcement. Everything under it is me talking to a Journal that has two posts on it, one of which is called "Testing." The audience here has never hit three digits, which makes this less a blog than a diary with a domain name. The header up there says "Occasional. Not a schedule." I wrote that myself, as a promise, and I have kept it flawlessly.
So. The book.
Tidal Heat is the explicit companion line to Common Ground. Same world, same couples, same bonds, and the plain words the main books keep off the page. Four books of writing carefully around the anatomy, and this one just has it in there. It was restful.
Book One is Rowan and Caleb. A sealed cottage in the Burrillville woods, three days, a fox's first heat, start to finish, nothing fading out. Two people. One room. A door that stays shut. Just under thirty thousand words. I regret nothing.
That makes it a novella, a bit over a third the length of Slack Tide, and it stands on its own. If you've read the novel you'll get more out of it. If you haven't, nothing in it needs the novel first, and nothing in it changes a word of Common Ground.
The plain version, because I said I'd always give you the plain version: this one is explicit the whole way through. If that isn't your book, skip it. You lose nothing, the main line keeps going exactly the way it always has, and I will never be weird at you about it.
Content notes, short: explicit sex throughout; grief, and a character's past sex work, referenced; a conversation about children, and nobody is pregnant. Full notes are on the book's page and in the book.
Where to get it: free when you join the newsletter, or $2.99 on Amazon. It is not in Kindle Unlimited, so Amazon will not be paying me by the page for this one, which is probably for the best considering the pages in question.
Two other things, since I'm already here
Slack Tide, the couple's own book, is 99¢ in the US store through Monday the 14th. Different Genus, the front door to Bad Little Falls, is 99¢ too, same store, same dates. That is ten more books sitting behind one dollar, and I would like to apologize in advance to your weekend.
Slack Tide is also in Fall Hard this month, which is a hundred-plus M/M romance and erotica titles on sale in one place. And Hot Reads, Cool Nights is a free-book giveaway from thirty-odd M/M authors, with True North as mine. Free is a good price. I've checked.
Maybe I should post more often. There's clearly a lot here.
Also, and I say this into the void with real hope: I'm building a small early-reader team for the next books. Small is the operative word, and at current traffic it is going to stay that way. There's a page for it.
